Discharge licences
Effluent Discharge Licences
If your business discharges trade effluent to water / groundwater or sewer, this activity is licensable under Section 4 or Section 16 of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act 1977 and 1990 (as amended).
Licence applications for discharge of trade effluent to waters are made to the Local Authority. Discharges to sewers are made to Irish Water.

River Basin Management Plan 2018-2021

This Plan sets out the actions or measures that Ireland will take to improve water quality and achieve ‘good’ ecological status in water bodies (rivers, lakes, estuaries and coastal waters) by 2027 as is required under the Water Framework Directive (WFD).
