Big Response to this Years Virtual Mayo.ie Western people Women’s Mini Marathon
3000 Women and Children are already registered for this year’s virtual event which takes place as part of Mayo Day activities from the Saturday 1st – Monday 3rd May. You can do the event in your own locality and at your own time while still observing HSE COVID19 guidelines.
Key Numbers Include:
- 2000 Women in the Mini Marathon 10k event
- 700 primary school kids taking part in the Primary Schools 2km
- 400 Secondary school Girls – Taking part in our it’s for girls 10km
- Organisers Mayo Sports Partnership are truly overwhelmed by the response and are really looking forward to seeing everyone out this #mayoday weekend taking part in the event from all over the world.Partner charities who receive 50% of registration fees are so thankful for all the donations that they are receiving while also many participants are raising funds for the charity of their choice
“We may not be on the Mall in Castlebar this year but virtually we will be celebrating together. Participants are coming from all over the world including UK, France, Dubai, US, Australia, New Zealand and all over the country from Cork to Donegal and Dublin to Mayo” commented this years event co-ordinator Janette Slattery.
Mayo Sports Partnership are asking that you send your pictures and videos in to us of you taking part so that we can share our celebration. Pictures can be emailed or posted on Social Media using hashtags #Mayoday #WOIMM . While there will not be a prize fund for the top runners this year the organisers have decided to have an overall prize fund of €1,000 for participants who submit their photos and log their times on MyRunResults. Random prizes which will include vouchers etc will be selected by the committee post event and will be advertised on all media channels. Registration CLOSES Noon this Friday 30th April. However due to demand this will be t-shirt only and there will be a 3 week wait time for delivery.
