Project Description

The proposed project will consider the upgrade of the existing N17 from Knock in County Mayo to Collooney in County Sligo.

Identified as one of the ten strategic outcomes of Project Ireland 2040, the development of this scheme has the potential to act as a key enabler for the regional growth objectives of the National Planning Framework (NPF). Some of the key objectives include improving regional accessibility, transport journey times and safety along the route.

Current Project Phase

The project is currently at Phase 2 (Options Selection) of the TII Project Management Guidelines. The Physical Constraints Study Area has been identified and presented to the public in October 2019. It is expected that a Preferred Option (or route corridor) should emerge in Quarter 3 of 2021.

Further Information

This scheme is being developed in conjunction with Sligo National Roads Office. The official project page can be found on the Sligo County Council website and can be accessed by clicking on the following link N17 Knock To Collooney – Official Website
