N59 Westport to Mulranny Road Project

Project Description
The N59 Westport to Mulranny Road Scheme consists of the improvement of approximately 25.2km of the N59 National Secondary Road between Westport and Mulranny. The length of the road project is 21.3km, of which 1.6km are off‐line sections at two locations, Rossow Bends and Barleyhill.
The design of the proposed N59 mainline is a Type 3 Single Carriageway (6.0m carriageway road with 0.5m hard strips and verges of approximately 2.0m to 3.0m).
The project is being advanced as seven separate improvement schemes. Please see below & the individual project pages for further information.

This section will be completed in 2020.
Barley Hill Section - Phase 6 – Construction
This section is being constructed as part of the N5 Westport to Turlough Scheme.
Sections at Detailed Design
Newport to Deradda Section - Phase 5 - Detailed Design
This section is planned to go to tender in 2020.
Roskeen to Deradda Section - Phase 5 - Detailed Design
This section will go to construction following completion of the Newport Deradda Section.
Murrevagh to Rosgalliv Bends Section - Phase 5 - Detailed Design
This section will go to construction following completion of the Murrevagh to Rosgalliv Section.
