Date: 10-11-2020
Orla Casey is an Interdisciplinary Designer and Virtual Reality Artist. Her work sits at the bridge between Art and Science and is expressed through the use of emerging digital technologies. She is an avid adventurer and explorer with a keen interest in the science of wellbeing. This influences her creative work focused mostly on play, sound and the developing mindfulness inspired virtual reality worlds. In her experience, the explorations of science are as exciting as the limitless potentials of creative expression, both can channel art. She is now sharing her experiences of developing Virtual Reality with a wider audience including artists, third level students, musicians and young children. Virtual Reality has enormous potential for any creative, scientist, engineer, architect or musician. It is free to learn so that we can start to build virtual reality destinations that can expand our experience and understanding of the world.
This Science week she has been invited to share her knowledge or Virtual Reality with secondary school students who will not only learn about Virtual Reality, but will also have the opportunity to participate in an interactive virtual reality workshop and learn the basics to start building a virtual reality world of their own.
