Parking


Claremorris Swinford Municipal District adopted Street Parking Bye-Laws and Car Park Bye-Laws to regulate and manage traffic in Claremorris and Ballinrobe. 

Bye-laws are in place to facilitate proper, efficient traffic management.  Community Wardens ensure adherence to these bye-laws through ongoing monitoring in each of the towns.    

‌‌‌Pay a Parking Fine 

You may pay a Fine in person at the following offices;  

  • Kilcolman Road, Claremorris:  Eircode F12 P383 
  • Kilmaine Road, Ballinrobe: Eircode F31 RR96 
  • Station Road, Swinford: Eircode F12 V126 

Pay and Display  

Pay & Display Parking is in place in designated areas in Claremorris and Ballinrobe to ensure the continuous flow of traffic and the availability of parking for use by those using services in the town. 

Monthly Permit 

A Monthly Parking Permit may be purchased by all members of the public to enable them to park in either a long stay or short stay car park for the duration of one month.  

A Monthly Parking Permit does not authorise parking in a prohibited manner or place. A Monthly Parking Permit is only valid for the car park schedule indicated on the permit. 

Residents Parking Permits 

A Residents Parking Permit is a permit that can be obtained from Mayo County Council for residents who reside in areas where pay and display/disc parking is operated. An application form and accompanying documentation must be submitted to Mayo County Council. Applications will only be accepted from the person who wishes to obtain the permit and only if the form is fully completed and accompanied by all required documentation. Mayo County Council reserves the right to ask for additional information to support applications or renewals. Only one permit is allowed per applicant. 

Possession of a Residents Parking Permit does not guarantee the holder a public parking space. A Residents Parking Permit does not authorise parking in a prohibited manner or place. A Residents Parking Permit is only valid for the vehicle and street/s indicated on the permit.

Disabled Parking Permit 

A person who suffers from a disability may be eligible for a Disabled Persons Parking Permit.  

These permits are not issued by Mayo County Council, they are issued by both the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland and by The Irish Wheelchair Association.   

Parking Fines Appeals Procedure 

If you wish to appeal a Parking Fine, you must submit your appeal in writing to: 

  • Mayo County Council, Kilcolman Road, Claremorris:  Eircode F12 P383, or 
  • Mayo County Council, Kilmaine Road, Ballinrobe: Eircode F31 RR96
