Local Area Plans in Preparation

Mayo County Council are currently preparing Local Area Plans for the towns and environs of Ballina, Castlebar, and Westport.


Castlebar Town & Environs Local Area Plan (LAP)

Pre-draft consultation on the Castlebar Town & Environs commenced on the 24th of February 2021. To assist this process, a Pre-Draft Consultation Issues Paper has been prepared for Castlebar Town & Environs, which identifies the key planning issues that may be addressed in the preparation of the LAP.

Mayo County Council is inviting interested parties to identify issues that need to be addressed in this forthcoming Local Area Plan. Submissions or observations may be made in respect of the Issues Paper from 9am Wednesday, 24th February 2021 to 4pm Wednesday 7th April 2021 (both dates inclusive), as follows:

Please make your submission by one medium only i.e. in hard copy or online. Late or emailed submissions will not be accepted and will be returned.

Submissions must state your name and address, and where relevant, the body or organisation represented. Children or groups or associations representing the interests of children are also encouraged to make submissions.


Westport Town & Environs Local Area Plan (LAP)

Pre-draft consultation on the Westport Town & Environs commenced on the 18th of March 2021. To assist this process, a Pre-Draft Consultation Issues Paper has been prepared for Westport Town & Environs, which identifies the key planning issues that may be addressed in the preparation of the LAP.
