Carraig Donn

A long time in Business going from strength to strength

‘We feel lucky to live and work in this beautiful environment’ -  Patrick Hughes Managing Director

Carraig Donn was established in 1965 as a family run business in Westport. With the support of local authorities, the sense of community, and the interaction of local and international industry, they have grown exponentially to be Ireland’s premier retailer of fashion, jewellery and giftware to employ over 470 people across manufacturing, retail and e-commerce operations. Starting from the first retail store in Westport, Carraig Donn now has 35 stores nationwide.

Their knitwear manufacturing plant is the largest of its kind in Ireland and because of the easy access to markets, they export 60 % of its products to the US and Europe.

Why Mayo?

"Mayo is a a wonderful location for start up business. It has good infrastructure by rail, road and vitally by air via Knock Airport allowing easy access to the UK and Europe, says Hughes.

“Due Westport being the best place to live in Ireland, Carraig Donns employees love living and working in this Community. It is the mix of community coupled with the presence of large Multinationals and good infrastructure which means that Carraig Donn’s operations can go from strength to strength at home and further afield."
